About CBRL

The CBRL is the British Academy sponsored society that supports research in the humanities and social sciences in the countries of the Levant: Cyprus, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria, closely related to the former Bilad el-Sham.

Membership

Current members can log into the Members Only area:

Membership of the CBRL entitles you to use the research facilities offered by the CBRL's institutes in the Middle East. These facilities include libraries, computers, research space, hostels, vehicle hire and assistance by CBRL staff. In addition, we will keep you updated on current research projects through our annual Bulletin. You will also be invited to talks and lectures in the UK, and all members receive our journal Levant. Anyone, regardless of nationality or status, may join.
